Very happy that this Fergie song made it to Number 1 after patiently hanging in the Top 5 for 12 long weeks! Talk about tenacity. Recall that Fergie sang this particular song live when she guested in American Idol earlier this year, and THAT was a long while back indeed.
Fergie becomes the first woman to earn three Number 1s (with 'London Bridge' and 'Glamorous') from one album ("The Dutchess"), since Christina Aguilera did it back in 2000.
It is also interesting that this is the second Number 1 hit with the title "Big Girls Don't Cry", This is the 13th time this had happened in the Rock Era that Number 1 songs share the same titles but are different songs
.. The first "Big Girls Don't Cry" was written by Bob Crewe/Bob Gaudio which the Four Seasons took to Number 1 in November 1962. The 44 years, nine months and three weeks between the ascension of the Four Seasons song and Fergie's hit is the longest gap between like-titled No. 1 songs.
