From the road, it was just a small patch of white sand in the middle of the Bohol Sea off the northeast corner of the island province of Camiguin.
They call it White Island.
It was too good to be real when seen from afar....a seemingly deserted island...very exciting! Only as we drew nearer do we see signs of human occupation....a couple of sheds...
a barbecue grill here.... a makeshift changing booth in the distance....
But yet wherever you look all around that small island... the scenery is jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring in its sheer simplicity and purity....
the majestic Mt. Hibok-Hibok looming on one side across the sea....
the pristine sea water around it in various shades of blue and green....
the soft fine white sand itself, as you walk along the entire length of the island....
There is just you, the sun, the sea, the sky and the sand.
While you are there on that island of sand, you would not want to leave at once.
You simply know that you are in a most special, beautiful, unique place.
You simply know that there is no other place in the Philippines, nay, the WORLD, quite like White Island!(Special thanks to Dr. Jimmy Chang for his additional photos.)
