| | On the morning of April 3, Rico brings us personally to visit Hoyop-Hoyopan Cave in Camalig, Albay. Luckily, the kids were all game and up to the challenge to go through all of the whole cave only lit by 2 gas lanterns carried by our two guides, despite initial fears of the darkness and bats.
"Hoyop-hoyopan" means "blowing", the caves were named such because of the strong wind blowing from inside felt when you stand at the entrance of the cave. Inside the cave are numerous stalactites and stalagmites. There were also rock formations which are natural abstract art open to your personal interpretations.
After this exciting adventure, we hied off to Gaisano Mall to relish the famed DJC Halo-halo (originally from Tiwi, Albay). It was very smooth, creamy and not too sweet--delicious!
After lunch, we bought some last minute pasalubongs, before finally going to the airport and saying goodbye to a most memorable place. |

| | On March 30, 2008, we took time off as a family to head off to Legazpi City in Albay to visit the natural wonders there and also for me to get together with my old good friend Dr. Rico Madlangbayan, who also happens to be the godfather of my youngest Hyker (whose birthday we will celebrate on April 1).
Our home base for the first two nights was the Black Sands Resort in the seaside town of Sto. Domingo, about 20 minutes from the Legazpi airport. |
