Blog EntryThe Amazing Race Asia 2 Winds UpFeb 14, '08 9:55 AM
for everyone
Tonight's episode of the Amazing Race 2 was the season finale.  At the start, they edited together the highlights of a very interesting race as we have been following for the past weeks since it started.  You were reminded of some very memorable tasks done as they went through 15 cities and 10 countries in Asia, Oceania, Europe and Africa

Also it brought back to mind the very explosive and irritating conflicts featuring Terri and Henry.  That hot-headed woman sure gave Pinays a bad name.  Her shrill nagging demeanor was terrible enough to drive her US Navy Petty Officer husband Henry to tears!

In this last episode, the last three teams were the beautiful sisters Paula and Vanessa from Malaysia, gym buddies Adrian and Colin from Singapore, and best friends Marc and Rovilson from the Philippines

Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez were the alpha male team of the race and led most of the way, losing a couple of laps in Europe only to gain back in the penultimate pitstop in South Africa.   However, even if they led most of the way in South Africa, all the teams left South Africa on the same plane en route to Singapore. Even then, Marc and Rovilson still led most of the way up to the last Road Block in Sentosa which Rovilson tried to do.  Unfortunately, Rovilson had difficulty with flags of the places that they have visited.  So much so that Adrian and Colin AND Pamela and Vanessa BOTH overtook them at that point.  Too bad for the Philippine team that that was already the last event and the next stop was already the Finish Line in a Chinese Garden in Jurong.

Adrian Yap and Colin Low came in first were declared the Winners of the Amazing Race Asia 2. Vanessa and Pamela Chong were a surprising second.  And erstwhile leadersand local favorites Marc and Rovilson wound up only in third place.

Kelly and I have been following the amazing race 2 as well, sayang marc and rovilson didn't win. They did win the hearts of fans too because of their very playful demeanor, that made watching the race more enjoyable. I think it was pure luck that in the end the road block posed a different challenge, otherwise our Philippine Team was obviously a hands down winner. Next time perhaps.

it's a given that just like in the US edition,
the alpha male team tends to dominate TAR.

yabang na yabang kay rovilson.
masyadong camera conscious,
too aware of what was happening, pati mga hirit parang scripted.
hated those fake moustaches he and marc wore in one leg.

kaya medyo natuwa ako at he got his comeuppance
when his lack of brain matter vis a vis the flags of the world
exposed his weakness.

this kind of roadblock has been used time and again in the US edition,
and if he really did his homework,
he should have anticipated this kind of mental challenge.

siguro dapat sa TAR Asia 3,
the producers should get Pinoy teams that can actually speak Pilipino ",)

Loved the underdog team from Singapore winning in their home country!!!

You are right that that flag challenge had already been done before. Also during the finale episode since it will recall the various countries visited. I guess in the end I was still hoping that the Philippine representative would win.

I was acquainted with Rovilson years ago, when he still had hair and less bulk. He actually looks quite different now on Amazing Race 2. What do you think, Emma?

I'm EXTREMELY upset. I wanted my boys to win.
